September 2020 marked the beginning of our KA201 Erasmus+ project: Educational Continuity 2.0.
Being leading organization, our school is the protagonist of a strategic, methodological self-reflection on DAD (didattica a distanza, in eng. distance learning) – a most urgent topic for students and families.
The project entails a collaboration with four European partners (two Greek ones, one Portuguese and one Italian) to strengthen good practices about distance learning challenges and the socio-emotional tools to best cope with them.
Answering the many questions tormenting these days (how to face the physical obstacles of distance learning? What methods should we use to support children, didactically and emotionally?) is at the heart of our actions. The European cooperation with private and public educational institutions gave voice to the need, and birth to the idea, to share a strategy on didactic continuity in time of Covid-19 and distance learning.
With the collaboration of families, students, teachers and school staff we are going to express concerns, needs and opinions on the difficulties experienced with distance learning, while developing ideas for improvement. The project aims at the achievement of three goals (in project jargon IO, or intellectual outputs):
- A research on distance learning:
- Emotional education: with the aim of training teachers and parents on the necessity of an emotional support for children in DAD, we are going to create a Toolkit (i.e. a set of theoretical cues on emotions, practical exercises, games, etc.) to face changes in home-school dynamics.
- A Digital tool: to evaluate the complex intersections between technological, emotional and economic resources affecting the life of students, we plan to create a software / App used to analyze individual situations and find effective strategies to overcome the difficulties of DAD.
